- 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
- 3 tbsp white sugar
- pinch of salt
- 2 tbsp boiling water
- 1-3/4 cups milk
- ¼ tsp vanilla extract
- ¼ cup half-and-half cream or heavy whipping cream
- In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the cocoa, sugar and pinch of salt.
- Add the boiling water.
- Bring this mixture to an easy boil while you stir with a whisk.
- Simmer and stir for about 2 minutes.
- Stir in the milk and heat until hot, but do not boil!
- Remove from heat and add vanilla and cream.
